If you're encountering issues with your domain not redirecting from www to non-www despite correct addition, follow the steps below to rectify the problem:
SSL Certificate Regeneration
To regenerate your SSL certificate:
- Log in to your 10Web dashboard
- Click on the website you want to troubleshoot
- Under Hosting Services click on Tools
- In the SSL Certificate card, click on the drop down menu and select Remove Certificate
- Once the certificate is removed, click on the drop down menu and select Generate free SSL certificate or Add custom SSL certificate
This action often resolves the issue of CNAME not redirecting properly.
CNAME Record Verification
If regenerating the SSL certificate doesn't solve the issue, the next step involves verifying whether the CNAME record is added. This problem often arises when www is pointed to non-www with an A record instead of a CNAME. You can check the existence of a CNAME record using this DNS checking tool: https://dnschecker.org/. If a CNAME record exists, you will see the address and a green checkmark next to the server. If there is no record, you will see a red X next to the server. In the latter case, you'll need to add the CNAME record then proceed with generating the SSL certificate again.
Note:
It's important to remember that the SSL certificate should always be regenerated after adding or altering the CNAME record to ensure proper redirection.
