Does 10Web offer HIPAA-compliant web hosting?
At 10Web, we prioritize industry-standard measures for our services. Nonetheless, we have yet to be independently audited for HIPAA technical requirements specifically. As such, we cannot guarantee complete compliance with HIPAA requirements at this time.
What is the difference between hosted and connected websites?
- Hosted Website: This refers to a WordPress website hosted on 10Web's servers and powered by Google Cloud.
- Connected Website: This is a WordPress website hosted elsewhere but connected to the 10Web dashboard via the 10Web Speed Booster or 10Web Manager plugin, allowing you to download, install, and update 10Web plugins for non-hosted sites.
Does 10Web offer shared hosting?
10Web does not offer shared hosting. Instead, we provide managed WordPress hosting with automated features, running on Google Cloud with isolated LXD containers for each site across 12 global data center locations. This ensures significantly better security and performance for any site hosted with us. We guarantee 99.99% uptime, elastic unlimited scaling, as well as the latest versions of PHP and MySQL.
Additionally, we offer an automated dashboard, the Speed Booster performance plugin, the AI Builder for effortless website development, and other automated services that complement our hosting server options.
You can find more information about managed hosting and what you can expect from 10Web's managed hosting in this dedicated article.
Can we use our own or third-party website builders, plugins, or themes on 10Web-hosted websites?
Yes, you are free to install any plugin, theme, or builder of your choosing. The general rule of thumb is: if it’s compatible with the WordPress CMS, it will work on our hosting. However, we advise that you take a look at the list of plugins not recommended by us.
How quick is the migration process and will it affect my site's uptime?
Your website will remain live and functional throughout the entire migration process, as migration to 10Web involves creating a copy of your website on our server under a temporary subdomain first. There are two primary ways of migrating, both of which have no effect on your site's uptime:
- Automatic 1-click migration using the 10Web Manager plugin: Simply download our migration plugin from your 10Web dashboard, install it on your site, and launch the migration wizard. This will create a copy of your site on your chosen data center. Automated migrations may take up to two hours, depending on the size of your website.
-
Using the 10Web Migration Assistant: If automatic migration is not possible (e.g., your site is no longer live on your previous hosting, you do not have access to its WP Admin backend, or there are security measures on your current hosting preventing the 10Web Manager from connecting), you can use our Migration Assistant to migrate your website. All you need is a backup zip containing two files:
- the wp-content folder
- the SQL file with your site's database dump.
The Migration Assistant will handle the rest once you upload the zip and choose a data center for your website.
After migration, you simply need to point your DNS to 10Web or obtain a domain name from our registrar (all platform plans receive a one-time $30 credit for the first year of domain name renewal) to replace the temporary subdomain with a live domain.
Should you struggle with any step of the migration process, our support team is always here to help!
How should I choose the appropriate data center?
We suggest choosing the data center that is geographically closest to your primary audience or users. This strategy will ensure quicker response times to user requests from the server, thus enhancing their browsing experience.
10Web Google Cloud data centers are located throughout the four continents: North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia, providing you with a wide range of locations to choose from, ensuring you can find one that is physically closest to your target audience.
