Maintenance mode is a feature used on websites to temporarily take them offline for updates, upgrades, or fixes while showing a message to visitors that the site is currently unavailable. With Elementor, you can easily enable a custom Maintenance or Coming Soon page to inform users while you work on your website in the background.
Enable maintenance mode in Elementor
Follow these steps to activate Maintenance Mode in Elementor:
- Go to your WordPress Dashboard.
- Navigate to Elementor > Tools.
- Click on the Maintenance Mode tab.
- Under Choose Mode, select either:
- Coming Soon: If the site is not live yet.
- Maintenance: If the site is temporarily offline for updates.
- In the Who Can Access dropdown, choose which user roles should still be able to view the full site (e.g., Administrator).
- In the Choose Template dropdown, select a pre-designed template or one you've created for the Maintenance or Coming Soon page.
- Click Save Changes to activate Maintenance Mode.
Create or edit your maintenance page
To create a new Maintenance or Coming Soon page in Elementor:
- Go to Templates > Saved Templates
- Click on Add New Template
- Select Page as the type, then give it a name like "Maintenance Page".
- Click Create Template.
- Design your page using Elementor Widgets such as:
- Heading and Text Editor for messages
- Countdown for launch timing
- Form for collecting visitor emails
- Social Icons to keep users connected
- Once done, click Publish, and then assign this template in the Maintenance Mode settings.
Important:
Maintenance Mode only hides your site from non-logged-in users based on the access roles you select. Make sure you test visibility in an incognito window or a different browser.
