10Web’s Backup Service offers a bulletproof layer of protection for your website’s security. Our multi-layered security measures include advanced backup options in addition to automatic website backups.
By performing incremental backups, 10Web's Backup Service makes efficient use of storage space. The first backup includes your whole website. Later backups only include the website's changes since the first complete backup. With smaller backups, more restore points are available in your plan's storage space.
Before you begin
10Web automatically creates a backup of your website every day and saves up to 10 days of restore points. Restoring a website from a backup is a few clicks away in the dashboard. Learn more about restore points.
Enabling backup service
To customize your automatic backup configuration, you’ll need to enable advanced backup options.
- Log in to your 10Web dashboard
- Click on the website for which you wish to set backup options
- Click on Backups in the left navigation
- Click Enable Now to enable advanced backup options
- Click Backup Now to backup your website
Configuring backup service settings
Before scheduling or creating backups, use the settings tab to select which files to include and set the maximum number of backups to store.
- Click on Backups in the left navigation
- Click on the Settings tab
- Use the checkboxes to include or exclude Files and Database, then click Save.
- Set the maximum number of backups to store using the drop-down menu, then click Save.
- Click the green Backup Now button above the calendar to create a backup.
Note:
To ensure your backups are created at the correct time, please make sure to set your account’s time zone in Personal Information under Account Settings.
Include/exclude content
The Files option creates an archive of your website’s files. Selecting the Database option creates a backup of your website’s MySQL database. You will need both backup files to restore a website.
Set limits on your backups
Setting a limit on the number of backups controls how many backup points are stored. The more backups you store, the more restore points you can choose from when restoring a website.
Delete previous backups
The Settings tab also gives you the option to delete your previous backups. Click the red Delete button to erase all of your backup files. Please note that this will remove all of your stored backups. If necessary, be sure to download a local copy of your files before deleting them.
Accessing your backups
Depending on how large your website and its files are, it can take a few minutes to complete the backup. Once the backup process is complete, you can access your backups in the Backup tab.
- Click on Backups in the left navigation
- Select the Backup tab
For each backup, you have the option to:
- Restore from the backup
- Prepare and Download a local copy of the backup file
- View details such as the backup file’s time and size
Note:
Backup files can take some time to prepare for download. Once the file is ready, a download link will be sent to your account's email address. You can find your current email address in Account Settings on the Login Info & Security tab.
Once you start creating backups, the backup dates are noted on the calendar. Click on a date to view details and options for that day’s backup.
