Migrating your WordPress site to 10Web Managed Google Cloud hosting is typically quick and easy using the 10Web Manager Plugin. However, there are times when the migration may fail, timeout, or be blocked. In this guide, we’ll cover common causes of migration failure and how to troubleshoot them.
Reasons for automatic migration failure
Disk quota
Each 10Web Hosting Platform plan includes a set amount of SSD disk space, allowing website migrations up to 5x the plan limit. If your website exceeds this maximum, the migration will fail.
Solution: Before migrating, ensure your website size is within the allowed limit or upgrade to a higher-tier plan with more SSD storage if needed.
Note:
You will be charged $2 for each additional 5GB of storage used beyond your plan limit.
PHP configurations
The PHP configurations on your current hosting server may cause the migration to fail if certain limits are reached.
Solution: If the migration times out, ask your hosting provider to review the PHP log for errors related to memory_limit, max_execution_time, or max_children. Request a temporary increase in these limits during the migration.
REST API blocked
The 10Web Manager plugin requires access to the REST API. The migration will fail if your hosting server or security plugins block this.
Solution:
- Temporarily disable any security plugins or firewalls and try the migration again.
- If the issue persists, ask your hosting provider to whitelist the following IP Range used by 10Web services:
- 52.142.61.111
- 52.170.74.61
- 20.98.84.151
- 13.92.59.87
- 52.151.28.87
- 40.117.75.176
- 40.114.115.187
- 13.66.227.49
- 52.191.26.186
- 52.170.133.217
10Web migration assistant
If the automatic migration still fails after following the steps above, you can use the 10Web Migration Assistant, a semi-automated tool. This tool uses a backup ZIP file containing the wp-content directory and SQL dump to securely migrate your site.
Follow these steps to use the Migration Assistant for a smooth migration.
