10Web's SEO plugin helps you optimize your website, online store, or web app for search engines. It automatically manages essential SEO settings, including meta titles, descriptions, indexing, sitemaps, structured data, and social sharing.
This guide explains how to set up SEO for your website and manage site-wide SEO settings using AI prompts or WordPress Admin.
Note:
This SEO solution applies only to projects created with the 10Web AI Builder. Websites or apps created with other builders or themes are not supported.
Step 1. Access the SEO plugin
The SEO plugin is usually installed automatically on websites generated with 10Web AI. If it isn't installed, you can activate it by entering the following prompt in the AI chat:
Make my site SEO optimized.
You can manage SEO through AI chat or directly from WordPress Admin.
To access WordPress Admin, use either method:
- From the 10Web dashboard, click the W icon on your website thumbnail.
- From the 10Web Editor, click the W icon next to the Publish/Save button.
Then navigate to SEO in the WordPress sidebar.
The plugin has five main sections:
- Dashboard: Review your website's SEO status, setup progress, and search performance.
- Site Health: Identify SEO issues and apply available fixes.
- Content: Manage SEO settings for pages, posts, products, and categories.
- Redirects: Manage URL redirects and not-found errors.
- Settings: Configure site-wide SEO defaults and technical settings.
Step 2. Set up SEO for your website
10Web automatically configures basic SEO settings based on your website's content. You can adjust them through AI or the guided setup.
Set up SEO using AI
Enter a prompt in the 10Web AI chat, for example:
Configure SEO for my website. Set up SEO title and description templates, add my business information, enable indexing for public pages, generate a sitemap, and configure structured data and social sharing.
Complete SEO setup manually
- Go to WordPress Admin → SEO → Settings.
- Click Re-run setup.
- Review and configure:
- Site identity: Your business or personal details.
- Social profiles: Links to your social media accounts.
- SEO templates: Default titles and descriptions for different content types.
- Indexing: Which content types and archives search engines can index.
- Search visibility: Whether your website is visible to search engines.
- Google Search Console: Connect your property to track search performance.
- Complete the setup.
Note:
The SEO plugin works with its automatically generated settings even if you do not complete the guided setup. You can return to it anytime using the Re-run setup button.
Step 3. Manage SEO titles and description templates
SEO titles and meta descriptions help search engines understand your pages and influence how they appear in search results.
You can configure templates to automatically generate titles and descriptions for different content types instead of editing each page individually.
Configure SEO templates using AI
Create SEO title and description templates for my website. Use the page or product name followed by my business name, and generate descriptions based on each page's content.
Configure SEO templates manually
- Navigate to SEO → Settings → Titles & templates.
- Select your preferred Title separator.
- Configure the Homepage meta title and Homepage meta description.
- Set a Fallback meta description for pages without a description.
- Under Templates per content type, customize the title and description templates for posts, pages, categories, tags, and archives.
- Click Save Changes.
Templates support variables that dynamically insert information such as page title, site name, category, product name, or publication date.
For example, a template using the product name and site name can generate:
Blue Running Shoes | Acme Store
The plugin selects values in this order:
- Custom SEO values entered for the page.
- The content type's template.
- The site-wide default.
Clearing a custom value restores the inherited template or default.
Quick tip:
In the same Titles & templates tab, you can set the tone AI uses when generating SEO titles, descriptions, alt text, and rewrites. Available options include Neutral, Professional, Friendly, and Promotional.
Configure homepage SEO
Your homepage can use a custom SEO title and description instead of the default templates.
Go to SEO → Settings → Titles & templates to edit the homepage fields and select a Homepage social image.
You can also ask AI:
Set my homepage SEO title to "Bella Italia Trattoria | Authentic Italian Restaurant" and write a description highlighting our fresh pasta and traditional Italian cuisine.
Note:
If your homepage is a static page, the SEO values configured under Homepage take priority over the SEO fields entered directly on that page.
Configure breadcrumbs
Breadcrumbs describe where a page sits within your website's structure.
For example:
Home → Shop → Shoes → Blue Running Shoes
To customize the breadcrumb labels:
- Navigate to SEO → Settings → Titles & templates.
- Scroll to Breadcrumbs (data for the site to render).
- Customize the Home label and Separator.
- Click Save Changes.
The plugin generates breadcrumb information based on your website's page and category hierarchy.
Step 4. Configure site identity and structured data
Site identity tells search engines whether your website represents a business or an individual and provides information used in structured data.
Configure site identity using AI
Configure structured data for Bella Italia Trattoria as an organization. Include the restaurant's name, logo, description, contact details, address, and social media profiles.
Configure site identity manually
- Navigate to SEO → Settings → Site identity.
- Under Who is behind the site, choose Organisation or Person.
- Enter the name, logo or photo, and description.
- If you selected Organisation, add your email, phone number, and address.
- Under Social profiles, enter your social media URLs and X handle.
- Click Save Changes.
The plugin uses this information to generate structured data and associate your website with its social profiles.
It also automatically generates structured data for supported articles, pages, products, categories, and FAQs.
Step 5. Manage search engine indexing and XML sitemaps
Indexing controls which pages search engines can include in search results. The plugin also automatically generates an XML sitemap to help search engines discover your content.
Configure indexing using AI
Make sure my public pages, blog posts, and products are indexable. Exclude login, checkout, account, and internal search results pages from search results.
Configure indexing manually
- Navigate to SEO → Settings → Indexing & sitemap.
- Under Site-wide visibility, choose whether search engines can index your website.
- Under Content types, configure:
- Managed: Whether the SEO plugin manages this content type.
- Indexed by default: Whether search engines can index it.
- In sitemap: Whether it is included in the XML sitemap.
- Images not indexed: Whether search engines should avoid indexing its images.
- No cached copy: Whether cached copies are restricted.
- Snippet: The allowed search result snippet length.
- Structured data: The structured data type, where available.
- Under Archives, enable or disable archive types and configure indexing.
- Click Save Changes.
Understand default indexing settings
Newly generated websites use these defaults:
- Published pages, posts, and category archives: Indexable.
- Author, date, and tag archives: Noindex.
- Internal search result pages: Noindex.
- Utility pages, including login, checkout, and account pages: Noindex.
You can change supported indexing settings based on your website's needs.
Important:
Disabling Visible: search engines may index the site applies noindex to the entire website and stops the XML sitemap from being served. Keep this option enabled when you want your public website to appear in search results.
View and configure the XML sitemap
The plugin automatically creates and updates a sitemap containing published, indexable content.
To access it:
- Go to SEO → Settings → Indexing & sitemap.
- Scroll to Sitemap.
- Click the sitemap index URL to view it.
- If needed, adjust Entries per file before splitting.
- Click Save Changes.
The sitemap updates when content is published, edited, deleted, or its indexing settings change. Drafts, noindex pages, and other excluded content are omitted.
Quick tip:
Your sitemap URL is automatically added to robots.txt. You can use the sitemap index URL shown in this section when submitting your sitemap to search engines.
Step 6. Configure social sharing settings
Social sharing settings control how links to your website appear on platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Slack, and X.
The plugin automatically generates sharing information using your page titles, descriptions, and images.
Configure social sharing using AI
Configure social sharing for my website. Use SEO titles and descriptions by default, set my brand image as the fallback sharing image, and enable large-image previews for X.
Configure social sharing manually
- Navigate to SEO → Settings → Social.
- Under Fallback share image, click Choose image to select an image used when a page has no sharing image.
- Under Default X card, choose:
- Large image preview: Displays a larger image with the shared link.
- Compact summary: Displays a smaller preview.
- Click Save Changes.
For large sharing previews, the minimum image size is 600 × 315 pixels, while 1200 × 630 pixels is recommended.
Note:
You can customize social titles, descriptions, and images for individual pages through their SEO panel. Otherwise, the plugin uses the page's existing SEO information and available images.
Step 7. Manage robots.txt and advanced SEO settings
The robots.txt file provides instructions to search engine crawlers about which parts of your website they can access.
The plugin automatically maintains the robots.txt sitemap reference and provides additional technical SEO controls.
Configure robots.txt using AI
Review my robots.txt settings, make sure the sitemap is included, and check that public pages are not blocked from search engines.
Configure robots.txt manually
- Navigate to SEO → Settings → Advanced.
- Under Robots file, review or edit the rules.
- Click View live file to inspect the current robots.txt file.
- Click Save Changes.
Leave the robots file field empty to use the default configuration.
Important:
Incorrect robots.txt rules can prevent search engines from accessing your entire website. The plugin requires additional confirmation for rules that block the whole site.
Configure additional advanced settings
Under SEO → Settings → Advanced, you can also manage:
- Page head output: Remove unnecessary WordPress shortlinks, RSD links, manifest links, generator tags, and emoji scripts.
- Structured data: Add site-wide JSON-LD alongside the structured data generated by the plugin.
- Attachment pages: Redirect attachment pages directly to their files using a 301 redirect.
- Editor and logging: Enable page-level nofollow controls, configure not-found URL logging, and choose how long to keep those entries.
- Analysis thresholds: Set content analysis limits, including minimum word counts, sentence length, paragraph length, and text length without subheadings.
Most websites can keep the default advanced settings.
Step 8. Review your SEO setup
Once your settings are configured, go to SEO → Dashboard to review your website's SEO status, unfinished setup steps, and SEO health warnings.
You can return to SEO → Settings whenever you need to update your configuration.
