With 10Web, you can add physical and digital products to your online store, organize them into categories, set prices, create product variations, and track inventory. You can manage your product catalog through AI prompts or manually from the WordPress dashboard.
This guide explains how to add and edit products, manage pricing and stock, organize your catalog, configure related products, and optimize product information for search engines.
If you haven't created your store yet, start with How to Create and Set Up an Online Store With 10Web.
Step 1. Add products to your online store
You can add products using AI prompts or manually from your store's WordPress dashboard.
Add products using AI
Open your website in the 10Web Editor and describe the products you want to add in the AI chat. You can provide product details directly or attach files containing product information.
Example AI prompt:
Add five new products to my online bike store: a mountain bike, a road bike, a cycling helmet, a bike lock, and a water bottle. Create realistic product names, descriptions, and prices in USD. Assign each product to the appropriate category, add suitable images, and make them available in the shop.
If you already have a product catalog, you can also attach a file with product names, descriptions, prices, categories, and other available information.
Tip:
Include as many product details as possible in your prompt or uploaded file, such as prices, sizes, colors, SKUs, and stock quantities. This helps AI prepare your catalog more accurately and reduces the amount of manual editing needed afterward.
Add a product manually
To create a product manually, first open your website's WordPress dashboard.
You can access it in two ways:
- From the 10Web dashboard, click the W icon on your website thumbnail.
- From the 10Web Editor, click the W icon next to the Publish/Save button.
Then follow these steps:
- Navigate to Store → Products.
- Click Add new product.
- Enter the product name in the title field.
- Add a detailed description using the content editor. You can format text, create lists, and insert images using Add Media.
- Scroll to the Short description section and enter a brief summary of the product.
- Configure the product's price, inventory, shipping, and other settings as described below.
- Click Publish to make the product available in your store, or save it as a draft if it is not ready.
Step 2. Set product prices and sale offers
Each product can have a regular price and an optional sale price. You can also schedule when a sale begins and ends.
To configure pricing:
- Go to Store → Products and open the product you want to edit.
- Scroll to Product data → Price.
- Enter the normal selling price in Regular price.
- To offer a discount, enter a lower amount in Sale price.
- Optionally, select a date and time under Sale starts and Sale ends to schedule the promotion.
- Review Selling now for to see the current selling price.
- Click Update to save your changes.
Example AI prompt:
Set the regular price of the Chainlock U-Lock to $45 and create a sale price of $35 from November 1 through November 15.
Note:
The sale price must be lower than the regular price. Leave the sale price empty if you do not want to offer a discount.
Step 3. Configure product identifiers
Product identifiers help you organize your inventory and provide standardized information about products.
Open the product editor and locate Product data → Identifiers.
The available fields include:
- SKU: Your internal product code. Each SKU must be unique across your store.
- GTIN or barcode: The global identifier associated with the product. This is useful for services such as Google Shopping.
- Brand: The manufacturer or brand associated with the product.
Enter the relevant details and click Update to save them.
Example AI prompt:
Update the Chainlock U-Lock product with SKU LOCK-001 and set its brand to Chainstay Accessories.
Link to products sold on another website
If you want to display a product in your catalog but direct customers to another website to purchase it, you can configure an external product link.
- Open the product editor.
- Find Product data → Sold on another site.
- Enter the external product address in Product URL.
- Optionally, customize the Button text, such as "Buy product" or "View offer".
- Click Update.
When configured, the product's purchase button directs shoppers to the external URL instead of adding the product to your store's cart.
Note:
Leave the Product URL empty if you want customers to purchase the product directly from your 10Web store.
Step 4. Manage product images and galleries
Product images help customers understand what you are selling. Each product can have a main image and additional gallery images.
Add a main product image
- Open the product editor under Store → Products.
- Find the Product image section on the right.
- Choose an existing image or upload a new one.
- Click the image later if you need to replace or edit it.
- Save the product.
Add gallery images
- In the product editor, find Product gallery.
- Click Add gallery images.
- Select or upload additional product images.
- Use the available controls to reorder the images.
- Click Update.
The main product image appears first, followed by the gallery images in the order you select.
Example AI prompt:
Improve the product presentation for the Trailguard Helmet. Use a clear main product image and add gallery images showing the helmet from different angles, including the front, side, and back.
Tip:
Use clear, high-quality images with consistent backgrounds and dimensions. Include multiple angles for physical products so customers can inspect them before purchasing.
Step 5. Manage product inventory and availability
Inventory tracking helps you monitor available stock, prevent overselling, and identify products that need to be restocked.
Enable stock tracking
- Go to Store → Products and open the product you want to manage.
- Scroll to Product data → Inventory.
- Enable Track stock by selecting Count units and stop selling at zero.
- Enter the available stock quantity and configure any additional stock settings displayed.
- Set a low-stock threshold if needed.
- Click Update.
When stock tracking is enabled, the store monitors product availability and prevents customers from purchasing quantities that are no longer available.
If a product has variations, stock can be tracked separately for each variation.
Example AI prompt:
Enable inventory tracking for all bicycle helmets. Set the Trailguard Helmet stock quantity to 25 units and notify me when fewer than 5 units remain.
Manage stock availability
The product editor displays the current Availability status, such as In stock.
You can also review stock status from Store → Products, where the Stock column shows each product's availability and whether inventory tracking is enabled.
When inventory tracking is active:
- Stock decreases automatically when an order is paid.
- Stock is returned when an order is canceled or a refund includes restocking.
- Products with zero available stock cannot be purchased.
- Low-stock products can be identified through the store's inventory reports and notifications.
For products that do not require quantity tracking, such as made-to-order goods or services, you can leave Track stock disabled.
Important:
When stock tracking is disabled, the store does not automatically limit purchases based on a stock quantity. Enable tracking for products with limited availability to avoid accepting orders for items you cannot fulfill.
Review recent stock movements
To review changes to a product's stock:
- Open the product under Store → Products.
- Scroll to Product data → Inventory.
- Find Recent stock movements.
- Review the available records of stock changes caused by purchases, cancellations, restocking, and manual adjustments.
This helps you understand why the available quantity has changed.
Step 6. Configure shipping requirements and digital products
Products can have different fulfillment requirements depending on whether they are physical items, digital downloads, or services.
- Open the product editor.
- Scroll to Product data → Shipping and delivery.
- For a physical product, enable Needs shipping.
- Enter the product's Weight and Dimensions, including length, width, and height.
- For downloadable products, enable Digital product and configure the files customers should receive after payment.
- For products or services that do not need delivery, disable Needs shipping.
- Click Update.
Physical product weights and dimensions are used when calculating delivery costs through supported shipping integrations.
Example AI prompt:
Update the Chainlock U-Lock as a physical product that requires shipping. Set its weight to 2 pounds and dimensions to 8 × 5 × 3 inches.
Note:
Products that do not require shipping do not add shipping costs to checkout. For a cart containing only digital or non-shippable products, customers can complete checkout without selecting a shipping method.
Step 7. Configure product taxes
Each product can be taxable or exempt from tax. You can also assign a tax class when your store uses different tax rates for different types of products.
- Open the product editor.
- Scroll to Product data → Tax.
- Enable Charge tax if tax should be added to the product at checkout.
- Under Tax class, select the applicable class, such as Standard or Reduced Rate.
- Review any suggested tax class and change it if necessary.
- Click Update to confirm your selection.
Example AI prompt:
Set all bicycle accessories to the Standard tax class and disable tax for the digital gift guide product.
Important:
AI-suggested tax classes should be reviewed before selling products. The correct tax treatment depends on your products, business location, and applicable tax rules. Saving a product confirms the selected tax class.
For instructions on configuring tax rates and connecting automated tax providers, see How to Set Up Payments, Shipping, and Taxes for Your Online Store.
Step 8. Create product attributes and variations
Attributes describe characteristics of products, such as size, color, or material. They can also be used to create variations that customers choose from when purchasing.
For example, a T-shirt may have Size and Color attributes, with different prices and stock quantities for each combination.
Create product attributes
- From the WordPress dashboard, navigate to Store → Attributes to manage attributes used across your catalog.
- Create an attribute, such as Color or Size, and add its values.
- Open the product under Store → Products.
- Scroll to the Attributes section.
- Click Add attribute and select or configure the relevant attribute and values.
- Choose whether the attribute is displayed as product information or used to create variations.
- Save the product.
Attributes are shared across the catalog, allowing you to reuse the same values for multiple products.
Create product variations
- Open the product editor and navigate to Attributes.
- Add the attributes and values customers should be able to choose from.
- Mark the relevant attributes as used for variations.
- Save your changes.
- Scroll to the Variations section.
- Generate the available combinations from the selected attributes.
- Configure the price, SKU, image, and stock quantity for each variation.
- Click Update.
Example AI prompt:
Add three color options to the Trailguard Helmet: Black, White, and Neon Yellow. Create a separate variation for each color, use appropriate images, and set individual stock quantities of 15, 10, and 20 units.
Tip:
Use variations when customers need to choose between product options that have different prices, images, or stock quantities. If an attribute is only informational, such as Material: Aluminum, you can display it in product details without creating variations.
Step 9. Set up upsells and cross-sells
You can recommend additional products to customers while they browse or shop.
10Web supports two types of product recommendations:
- Upsells: Alternative products, usually upgraded or higher-value options, shown on the product page.
- Cross-sells: Complementary products shown in the shopping cart.
To configure recommendations:
- Navigate to Store → Products and open a product.
- Scroll to the Related products section.
- Under Upsells, select a product from the dropdown and click Add.
- Under Cross-sells, select complementary products and click Add.
- Click Update.
For example, you might recommend a premium road bike as an upsell for a standard bike, and a helmet or bike lock as a cross-sell.
Example AI prompt:
Add the Apex Road Bike as an upsell for the Roamer Gravel Bike. Recommend the Trailguard Helmet and Chainlock U-Lock as cross-sells for all bicycles.
Note:
If you leave the upsell and cross-sell fields empty, the store can automatically suggest available products from the same category, prioritizing products that sell best.
Step 10. Organize products using categories and tags
Categories and tags help customers browse your store and find products more easily.
Categories are the main groups used to organize your catalog. They can contain subcategories.
Tags are descriptive labels that can be shared across different categories, such as Waterproof, Lightweight, or Summer Collection.
Create and manage product categories
- Navigate to Store → Categories.
- Under Add new category, enter the category Name.
- Optionally, enter a Slug, which is the URL-friendly version of the category name.
- Select a Parent Category if you want to create a subcategory.
- Add a Description explaining what the category contains.
- Click Choose image to add a category image.
- Optionally, configure the category's Meta title, Meta description, and Canonical URL.
- Click Add new category.
To edit an existing category, click its name in the category list, update the relevant fields, and click Update.
You can also use the available controls to reorder categories or remove categories you no longer need.
Example AI prompt:
Organize my bike store into Road Bikes, Mountain Bikes, Electric Bikes, Kids Bikes, and Accessories. Create a Helmets subcategory under Accessories and assign the existing products to the appropriate categories.
Assign products to categories
- Go to Store → Products and open a product.
- Find the Categories panel on the right.
- Select one or more relevant categories.
- If necessary, click + Add new category to create a category without leaving the product editor.
- Click Update.
Create and manage product tags
- Navigate to Store → Tags.
- Under Add new tag, enter the tag Name.
- Optionally, enter a Slug and Description.
- Click Add new tag.
To add tags directly to a product:
- Open the product editor.
- Find the Tags panel on the right.
- Enter one or more tags, separating them with commas.
- Click Add, or select an existing tag using Choose from the most used tags.
- Click Update.
Example AI prompt:
Add the tags Lightweight, Outdoor, and Best Seller to the Trailguard Helmet. Add the tags City Riding and Commuter to the Volt City E-Bike.
Tip:
Use categories for your main product groups and tags for additional characteristics. For example, a helmet may belong to the Accessories category while using the tags Lightweight, Waterproof, and Commuter.
Step 11. Optimize product and category information for search engines
You can customize how product and category pages are described to search engines by configuring their SEO fields. Read more about SEO set up in How to Optimize Your Website Content and Fix SEO Issues.
Configure product SEO
- Go to Store → Products and open the product you want to optimize.
- Scroll to the Search engines section.
- Enter a Meta title that describes the product. If left empty, the product name is used.
- Enter a Meta description summarizing the product's main features and benefits.
- Optionally, enter a Canonical URL if the same product content is published at another address.
- Click Update.
Example AI prompt:
Optimize the SEO information for the Chainlock U-Lock. Write a descriptive meta title and meta description emphasizing its durable steel construction and bicycle security features.
Configure category SEO
- Navigate to Store → Categories.
- Click the category you want to edit.
- Enter a relevant Meta title and Meta description.
- Configure the Canonical URL if needed.
- Click Update.
Tip:
Use clear, specific meta titles and descriptions that accurately represent your products. Avoid repeating the same description across multiple product pages.
Step 12. Manage existing products
As your catalog grows, you can quickly find, edit, and manage products from the Products list.
- Navigate to Store → Products.
- Use Search products to find a product by name or identifier.
- Use the available filters to narrow the list by category, stock state, tax class, or product type.
- Click Filter to apply your selections.
- Click a product's title to open its editor.
- Make your changes and click Update.
The Products list also shows useful information such as SKU, price, stock availability, tax class, categories, tags, featured status, and publication date.
Manage multiple products at once
To apply an available bulk action:
- Go to Store → Products.
- Select the checkboxes beside the products you want to manage.
- Open the Bulk actions dropdown.
- Select the action you want to perform.
- Click Apply.
You can also use the star icon in the Featured column to mark or unmark a product as featured.
Remove a product from your store
- Open the product under Store → Products.
- In the Publish panel, click Move to Trash to remove it from the active catalog.
Important:
Removing a product from your catalog does not remove it from previously placed orders. Existing orders retain the product information recorded at the time of purchase.
