better SEO handling for Gallery Sitemaps

If I create a new gallery with images in PhotoGallery and insert it into a post, PhotoGallery also creates a gallery page and, in cooperation with YOAST, includes it in the bwg_gallery-sitemap.xlm. Google then indexes the images for the specially created gallery page and not for the post with the images, ie when users search for images in Google image search, they do not end up on my post page with useful text/stories and the gallery, but on the pure gallery page.

You would have to change that or maybe better PhotoGallery would have to provide Yoast with the data that an extra sitemap can be created with the Alt/Title information of the images in the gallery.


And so you can see where users are going when they search on Google. You only get to the gallery page without the actual post page with info, text and the image gallery

    Thanks for submitting the idea. 

    We have an option to exclude custom post types from crawling: please see the screenshot attached.

    OK. so that we don't misunderstand each other.

    This setting is worded very unhappily. If I translate and understand it correctly, a "yes" means that search engines do not crawl the images. That's why I set "NO" as the setting.
    That should be correct - right?

    Hi Frank, 

    This is common phrase in WordPress this is why we have used the same. 

    So, in this case if you want to prevent Google indexing those pages, you should choose "yes."

    The original problem still persists that no sitemap is created for the images in the post and Google doesn't find a good reason to index the gallery images in the post well. Also the alt/title description is not used for a sitemap.
