DateTime format for sql

Please offer a method to format dates such that they can be inserted directly into a "DATETIME" column in a sql table. At present, time is formatted as "hh : mm" where there is a space between the hours, the colon, and the minutes - this means that you cannot directly insert into a "DATETIME" field.
