An SRV record is a record used to identify the server using a hostname and port number for services such as VOIP.
Adding an SRV record
- Log into your 10Web dashboard
- Click on the site where you want to add the SRV record
- Navigate to Hosting Services > Domains
- Click on Manage DNS for the website where you want to add the SRV record
- Find and click the Add a DNS record button
A dropdown menu will appear.
- Under Type, choose SRV
Important:
You will need to provide the specific details for your SRV record, the Priority number, the Port number, the Weight number. If you do not have this information, you will need to ask the service provider for the information in order to add the record.
- Add Priority, Port, and Weight values in their corresponding fields
- In the Hostname field, add your service(type of service) and protocol (transport protocol) values in this format: _service._protocol
For example, _sip._tls
- In the second Hostname field, input your target value. For example, address.yourdomain.com
- Click the Add DNS Record button to complete the process and add your new SRV record
