10Web lets you configure how customers pay for purchases, choose delivery methods, and calculate taxes in your online store. You can connect payment providers, offer flat-rate or carrier-calculated shipping, and manage taxes manually or through automated tax integrations.
This guide explains how to set up payments, shipping zones, delivery options, shipping carriers, tax rates, and automated tax calculations to prepare your store for accepting orders.
If you haven't created your store yet, see How to Create and Set Up an Online Store With 10Web. To configure individual product prices, shipping dimensions, or tax classes, see How to Add and Manage Products and Inventory in Your Online Store.
Step 1. Access your store settings
Payments, shipping, and taxes are managed from your store's WordPress dashboard.
You can access the WordPress dashboard in two ways:
- From the 10Web dashboard, click the W icon on your website thumbnail.
- From the 10Web Editor, click the W icon next to the Publish/Save button.
Once inside WordPress, navigate to Store → Settings.
From here, you can access the Payments, Shipping, and Taxes tabs. Provider integrations are managed through their corresponding integration screens.
Step 2. Set up payments for your online store
10Web uses a separate Payments plugin to process transactions across your website. Your online store manages order totals, payment statuses, invoices, and inventory updates, while the Payments plugin connects to external providers and processes payments.
Connect a payment provider
To accept online payments, connect a payment provider using your existing provider account.
- From the WordPress dashboard, navigate to Payments → Integrations.
- Review the available payment providers.
- Select the provider you want to connect.
- Click Where to find these keys if you need instructions for locating your provider's API credentials.
- Under Mode, select Live for real transactions or Test for testing, where supported.
- Enter the credentials required by the selected provider.
- Click Save & verify to save the connection and verify your credentials.
The available providers include:
- Stripe: Card payments, supported digital wallets, and saved cards.
- PayPal: PayPal payments.
- Square: Card payments.
- Braintree: Card payments.
- Authorize.net: Card payments.
- Razorpay: Hosted checkout.
- Mollie: Hosted payment page.
- Paystack: Hosted payment page.
- Mercado Pago: Hosted payment page.
- iyzico: Hosted payment page.
Each provider displays its own credential fields. For example, Stripe requires a publishable key and secret key, while PayPal requires a client ID and client secret.
Important:
You must have an account with the payment provider you want to use. 10Web does not automatically create an account with the provider. Make sure the credentials and selected payment mode match before accepting real payments.
Review payment methods and provider status
After connecting a provider, review the payment options available to your customers.
- Navigate to Store → Settings → Payments.
- Under Taking payment, check whether a payment provider is connected.
- Review Payment methods offered to see the payment methods available through your connected provider.
- Click Manage providers and methods to open the Payments integration settings if you need to make changes.
The connected provider determines which payment methods are available at checkout. Depending on the provider, customers may pay by card, a supported digital wallet, or through a hosted payment page.
Note:
Some payment methods, such as Apple Pay and Google Pay, depend on your provider's configuration and the customer's device and browser. Their availability may also require additional setup in your payment provider's account.
Enable cash payments
You can allow customers to place orders online and pay in cash when their order is collected or delivered.
- Navigate to Store → Settings → Payments.
- Find the Cash section.
- Enable Cash payment by selecting Let customers pay in cash on collection or delivery.
- Under What to tell them, optionally enter instructions that customers should see when choosing cash payment.
- Click Save settings.
When customers select cash payment, they can place an order without paying online. The order is created and confirmed, and you can mark it as paid from the order details after receiving the payment.
Example instructions:
Please prepare the exact amount when collecting your order or receiving your delivery. Payment is due when your order is handed over.
Tip:
Cash payments are useful for local stores offering collection or cash on delivery. You can keep this option available alongside online payments or disable it if you want all customers to pay online.
Configure payment links
Payment links let you collect online payments for orders created manually, such as purchases arranged by phone or email.
To configure payment links:
- Navigate to Store → Settings → Payments.
- Scroll to Payment links.
- Under Payment page, review Let the plugin serve the payment page itself. Normally, your website handles the payment page at /pay/. Enable this option only if your website does not handle that address.
- Under Links expire after, enter how many days a payment link should remain valid.
- Click Save settings.
When you create a manual order, you can generate a payment link and send it to the customer. Once the payment provider confirms the transaction, the store updates the order's payment status.
Note:
Expired payment links stop working. You can issue a new link for an unpaid order. Payment links for orders that have already been paid cannot be used to charge the customer again.
Review payment transactions
All payment activity processed by the Payments plugin can be reviewed from one place, including payments initiated by different features on your website.
- Navigate to Payments → All payments.
- Use the search field to find a payment by its reference or charge identifier.
- Click Search payments to display matching transactions.
- Use Filter to narrow the results.
- Click Export to export payment records when needed.
The payment ledger preserves the original transaction records and records refunds against their corresponding payments.
Step 3. Set up shipping and delivery options
Shipping settings determine where your store delivers products and which delivery methods customers can choose at checkout.
You can configure your own shipping prices or connect shipping carriers to calculate rates automatically.
Create shipping zones
Shipping zones let you define different delivery rules for different locations. For example, you might charge one rate for deliveries within the United States and another for international orders.
- Navigate to Store → Settings → Shipping.
- Under Delivery zones, click Add a zone.
- Enter a name for the zone, such as United States or California.
- Select the countries, states, regions, or postcodes covered by the zone.
- Configure the delivery methods available for that zone.
- Save the zone.
You can create multiple zones for different delivery areas.
The store checks shipping zones in order and applies the first zone matching the customer's address. Put more specific zones before broader ones.
The Rest of world zone covers destinations that do not match another zone.
Example AI prompt:
I want to ship products throughout the United States and internationally. Help me set up separate delivery zones for the United States and the rest of the world.
Important:
Shipping zone order affects which delivery methods customers see. If a destination matches multiple zones, only the first matching zone is used. Make sure specific delivery areas appear before general ones.
Configure flat-rate shipping
Flat-rate shipping lets you charge a fixed amount for deliveries within a shipping zone.
- Navigate to Store → Settings → Shipping.
- Open the shipping zone you want to configure.
- Add a delivery method and select Flat rate.
- Enter a customer-facing name, such as Standard delivery.
- Set the delivery price.
- Save the method and make sure it is enabled.
For example, you can set Standard delivery to $10 for the United States and International delivery to $35 for the Rest of world zone.
Example AI prompt:
Help me configure standard delivery at $10 for orders shipped within the United States and international delivery at $35 for all other supported destinations.
Offer free shipping
You can offer free shipping to all customers in a zone or make it available only when certain conditions are met.
- Open Store → Settings → Shipping.
- Select the delivery zone where you want to offer free shipping.
- Add a delivery method and choose Free shipping.
- Choose whether free shipping is always available or requires a condition, such as a minimum order value or valid coupon.
- Configure the required condition.
- Save and enable the method.
For example, you can offer free shipping on orders over $100 while keeping a paid delivery option for smaller purchases.
Example AI prompt:
Help me offer free shipping for customers in the United States when their order total reaches $100. Customers with smaller orders should still have the standard paid delivery option.
Tip:
Offering free shipping above a minimum order value can encourage customers to add more products to their cart.
Set up local pickup
Local pickup allows customers to collect their orders from a physical location instead of receiving delivery.
First, create a pickup location:
- Navigate to Store → Settings → Shipping.
- Scroll to Pickup locations.
- Click Add a pickup location.
- Enter a Name for the location, such as Main Store or Downtown Pickup.
- Complete the location's address, including street, city, region, postcode, and country.
- Under Collection instructions, enter useful information such as opening hours, which entrance customers should use, or what they should bring.
- Under Available, enable Offer this location for collection.
- Click Add location.
Next, make local pickup available at checkout:
- Return to Store → Settings → Shipping.
- Open the shipping zone where local pickup should be offered.
- Add a Local pickup delivery method.
- Configure any applicable pickup charge and enable the method.
- Save your changes.
Customers can then choose local pickup at checkout and select an available collection location.
Example AI prompt:
Help me offer free local pickup from my store at 123 Main Street, Los Angeles, California. Customers can collect their orders Monday through Friday, between 9 AM and 6 PM.
Note:
Creating a pickup location does not automatically make local pickup available at checkout. You must also add a Local pickup delivery method to the relevant shipping zone.
Step 4. Connect shipping carriers for live delivery rates
If you want delivery prices calculated automatically, you can connect your own shipping carrier accounts.
10Web supports integrations with UPS, FedEx, DHL Express, Aramex, Sendcloud, and Envia.
Connect a shipping carrier
- From the WordPress dashboard, navigate to Store → Shipping integrations.
- Review the available carrier cards.
- Choose the carrier you want to connect.
- Click Where to find these keys to open the provider's instructions for obtaining API credentials.
- Under Mode, select Live or Test where supported.
- Enter the required credentials for your carrier account.
- Click Save & verify.
Each carrier requires different connection information:
- UPS: Client ID, client secret, and account number.
- FedEx: API key, secret key, and account number.
- DHL Express: API key, API secret, and account number.
- Aramex: Username, password, account number, account PIN, account entity, and account country code.
- Sendcloud: Public key and secret key, with an optional sender address ID where applicable.
- Envia: API token.
You can connect multiple carriers if you want to offer customers different delivery services.
Important:
You need your own account with each shipping provider. 10Web retrieves rates from the connected carriers but does not purchase or print shipping labels through these integrations.
Configure shipping integration mode
At the top of Store → Shipping integrations, you can select how your store uses connected carrier accounts.
The available modes are:
- Automatic: Uses live mode as soon as a live connection exists; otherwise uses test mode.
- Live: Requests rates only from live carrier connections.
- Test: Requests rates only from test carrier connections.
Choose the appropriate mode and ensure the carrier credentials match it.
Note:
Not all carriers support a test environment. For example, Sendcloud connections operate in live mode only.
Add carrier rates to a shipping zone
After connecting a carrier, you must add its services to the shipping zones where they should be available.
- Navigate to Store → Settings → Shipping.
- Open the shipping zone you want to configure.
- Add a delivery method and select Carrier rates.
- Choose one of your connected shipping carriers.
- Select the carrier services you want to offer customers.
- Optionally, customize the display name of each service.
- If needed, add a fixed or percentage markup to the carrier's returned rate.
- Save and enable the method.
When a customer enters a complete delivery address, the store requests the available carrier rates and displays the enabled services at checkout.
Important:
Connecting a shipping carrier alone does not display its rates at checkout. You must also add a Carrier rates delivery method to the relevant shipping zone.
Review shipping connection errors
If a carrier connection fails or does not return rates, you can investigate the issue from the integrations screen.
- Navigate to Store → Shipping integrations.
- Check the status of the connected carrier.
- Review any error message displayed on its card.
- Check the activity section for failed rate requests and their reasons.
- Correct the credentials or connection settings if necessary.
- Save and verify the connection again.
Tip:
Keep a manual shipping method, such as a flat rate, available in your shipping zones when appropriate. If a carrier temporarily fails to return rates, customers may still be able to choose the manual delivery option.
Step 5. Set up taxes for your online store
10Web supports manual tax calculation and integrations with external tax providers. You can define tax rates yourself or connect a provider to calculate taxes automatically based on the purchase.
Enable tax calculation
- Navigate to Store → Settings → Taxes.
- Under Charge tax, enable This store charges tax.
- Review the available tax settings.
- Click Save settings.
If your store does not charge tax, you can disable this setting.
Important:
Turning off tax calculation stops tax from being added to orders, regardless of whether manual tax rates or an automated tax provider are configured. Make sure this setting reflects your business's tax requirements.
Configure tax calculation and display settings
Under Store → Settings → Taxes, you can control how taxes are calculated and displayed.
The available settings include:
- Prices you enter: Choose whether your product prices already include tax.
- Work tax out from: Select the address used for manual tax calculations, such as the delivery address.
- Round tax: Choose whether tax is rounded per line or once per order.
- Tax class for delivery: Choose which tax class applies to shipping charges.
- Show shop prices: Display product prices with or without tax.
- Show cart and checkout prices: Display prices with or without tax in the cart and checkout.
- Tax in the totals: Show tax as one total or as separate lines.
- Text after a price: Add optional text such as "inc. VAT" after displayed prices.
After configuring your preferences, click Save settings.
Note:
Some calculation settings, such as the address used to determine tax, rounding, and the delivery tax class, apply only to manual tax rates. When an automated tax provider is connected, that provider determines the corresponding tax treatment.
Create and manage tax classes
Tax classes let you apply different tax rates to different types of products.
By default, your store includes:
- Standard: The default class for regularly taxed products.
- Reduced Rate: For products subject to a reduced tax rate.
- Zero Rate: For products taxed at a zero-percent rate.
To create a custom tax class:
- Navigate to Store → Settings → Taxes.
- Scroll to Tax classes.
- Enter the new class name in New class name.
- Click Add class.
- Configure the applicable rates for the new class under Rates.
You can delete unused custom, reduced, or zero-rate classes. The Standard class is always retained.
To apply a tax class to a product, navigate to Store → Products, open the product, and select the appropriate class under Product data → Tax.
Add manual tax rates
Manual tax rates let you define the exact tax percentages that apply to purchases in different locations.
- Navigate to Store → Settings → Taxes.
- Scroll to Rates.
- Locate the tax class you want to configure, such as Standard.
- Click Add a rate.
- Configure the new rate using the available fields:
- Country: The country where the rate applies.
- State: The applicable state or region.
- Postcode: The applicable postal code or range.
- City: The city where the rate applies.
- Rate %: The tax percentage.
- Name on the invoice: The tax name displayed to customers, such as Sales Tax or VAT.
- Priority: Determines how rates are selected and combined.
- Compound: Applies tax on an amount that includes earlier taxes, when enabled.
- Delivery: Determines whether the rate also applies to delivery charges.
- Click Save rates.
For example, you can create a California sales-tax entry for products assigned to the Standard tax class.
Note:
Leaving a location field empty means the rate is not restricted by that field. Rates with the same priority are alternatives, while rates with different priorities can apply together.
Important:
Tax rates vary by location and product type. Verify the correct rates and your tax obligations before configuring manual taxes. The values shown in your store or examples are not a substitute for tax advice.
Import and export tax rates
If you already have a tax rate table, you can import it instead of entering every rate manually.
To import rates:
- Navigate to Store → Settings → Taxes.
- Scroll to Import and export.
- Paste your CSV data into the Paste CSV field, or click Choose File to upload a CSV file.
- Click Import rates.
- Review the imported rates in the corresponding tax class tables.
The import supports location information, tax percentages, names, priorities, compound settings, shipping tax settings, and tax classes.
To export your existing rates, click Export every rate as CSV.
Important:
Imported tax rates are added to your existing rates rather than replacing them. Review your current rate table before importing to avoid duplicate entries.
Use guided tax setup
If you are configuring manual taxes for the first time, you can use the guided setup to create a starting rate table.
- Navigate to Store → Settings → Taxes.
- Scroll to Guided setup.
- Under Where is the business registered for tax?, select the country.
- Enter the State or province if required.
- Under Which countries do you sell to?, enter the relevant two-letter country codes, separated by commas. Leave the field empty if you sell only in your home country.
- Under What do you mostly sell?, select the product category that best describes your business.
- Click Propose rates.
- Review the proposed tax rates and apply them if they are appropriate for your business.
The guided setup provides a starting configuration that you can review and adjust before using it.
Important:
Guided tax setup provides suggested rates, not professional tax advice. Nothing is saved until you review and apply the proposal. Always verify your tax configuration before accepting orders.
Step 6. Connect an automated tax provider
Instead of managing tax rates manually, you can connect an external tax provider to calculate taxes based on your store's transactions and customer information.
10Web supports Stripe Tax, Avalara, and Quaderno.
Connect a tax provider
- Navigate to Store → Tax integrations.
- Review the available providers.
- Choose the tax provider you want to connect.
- Click Where to find these keys to view instructions for obtaining the required credentials.
- Select the appropriate Mode, such as Live or Test.
- Enter the required credentials.
- Click Save & verify to verify the connection.
Each provider requires different information:
- Stripe Tax: Stripe secret key.
- Avalara: Account ID, licence key, and company code.
- Quaderno: Account name and API key.
After a provider is successfully connected and activated, the store uses it to calculate taxes instead of the manual rate table.
Important:
Your store uses one tax calculation engine at a time. Connecting an automated tax provider replaces manual tax calculations while the provider is active. Your manual rates remain saved for future use.
Configure tax integration mode
At the top of Store → Tax integrations, select how the store should use your tax connections.
- Automatic: Uses live mode when a live connection is available; otherwise uses test mode.
- Live: Uses only live tax provider connections.
- Test: Uses only test tax provider connections.
Make sure the credentials entered for your provider match the selected mode.
Review tax integration activity
You can monitor calculation issues and provider activity from the integrations screen.
- Navigate to Store → Tax integrations.
- Scroll to Activity.
- Use the provider filter to select a specific tax engine or view activity for all engines.
- Use the activity type filter to narrow the records.
- Select the period you want to review, such as Last 7 days.
- Click Filter.
- Review any reported calculation fallbacks, failed sale records, or provider state changes.
If a provider becomes unavailable or returns an error, the store can fall back to its manual tax table, helping checkout continue with the available tax configuration.
Tip:
Keep your manual tax rates up to date even when using an automated provider. They can serve as a fallback if the connected provider temporarily fails to calculate taxes.
Step 7. Test payments, shipping, and taxes before launch
Before accepting real orders, verify that your store calculates the correct totals and provides the expected payment and delivery options.
- Open Payments → Integrations and verify that your payment provider is connected and configured for the intended mode.
- Open Store → Settings → Shipping and review your active shipping zones and delivery methods.
- If you use carrier rates, confirm that your carrier connections are verified and added to the relevant zones.
- Open Store → Settings → Taxes and verify that tax calculation is enabled and configured.
- If you use automated taxes, check your connection under Store → Tax integrations.
- Open your storefront and add a product to the shopping cart.
- Proceed to checkout and enter a delivery address that matches one of your shipping zones.
- Check that the expected delivery methods and prices appear.
- Review the tax amount and final order total.
- Complete a test payment using the supported test environment and confirm that the order is recorded correctly.
Once everything works as expected, switch to the appropriate live connections and verify that the store is ready to accept real purchases.
Important:
Do not use real customer payments when testing your store. Use test credentials and supported test environments wherever available. Before launching, make sure your live payment, shipping, and tax configurations are active and working correctly.
