Your website will remain live and functional throughout the entire migration process, as migration to 10Web involves creating a copy of your website on our server under a temporary subdomain first. There are two primary ways of migrating, both of which have no effect on your site's uptime:
- Automatic 1-click migration using the 10Web Manager plugin: Simply download our migration plugin from your 10Web dashboard, install it on your site, and launch the migration wizard. This will create a copy of your site on your chosen data center. Automated migrations may take up to two hours, depending on the size of your website.
-
Using the 10Web Migration Assistant: If automatic migration is not possible (e.g., your site is no longer live on your previous hosting, you do not have access to its WP Admin backend, or there are security measures on your current hosting preventing the 10Web Manager from connecting), you can use our Migration Assistant to migrate your website. All you need is a backup zip containing two files:
- the wp-content folder
- the SQL file with your site's database dump.
The Migration Assistant will handle the rest once you upload the zip and choose a data center for your website.
After migration, you simply need to point your DNS to 10Web or obtain a domain name from our registrar (all platform plans receive a one-time $30 credit for the first year of domain name renewal) to replace the temporary subdomain with a live domain.
